Conflux and China Telecom Launch Blockchain SIM Card
Conflux Network, a global communications network, and China Telecom debuted their jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card at the Xuhui District West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center in Shanghai. It is an identification card based on blockchain technology that looks similar to traditional SIM cards but has much greater storage space and computing power. This new card can generate and store users’ public and private keys within the card for digital signatures in a “private key never leaves the card” manner to reduce risk of attack from malware and virus software. It also features encrypted storage, key recovery functions, as well as U-shield functions for hardware security advantages to protect users’ private keys.
Functionality of the BSIM Card
The BSIM card is fully compatible with mainstream mobile terminal systems such as Android and iOS. Alongside traditional communications functions, this new card can also generate and store users’ public and private keys within it for digital signatures in a “private key never leaves the card” manner which reduces risk of attack from malware or virus software attacks. Furthermore, it has encrypted storage capabilities along with key recovery functions that are integrated into a U-shield function for extra hardware security advantages when protecting users‘ private keys.
On-Chain Interaction Demonstrated
At the launch event, Dr Wu Ming demonstrated how this new BSIM Card could be used by transferring a Commemorative NFT of the China Telecom/Conflux Partnership from his account on the Shanghai Conflux Research Institute to another account on China Telecom using this new technology – marking its first successful public use of this new BSIM Card on-chain interaction with blockchain technology in history .
Dr Wu Ming’s Statements
Dr Wu Ming stated: “From now on, all mobile communication users can obtain a more secure digital identity through mobile terminals and access Web3 & metaverse with minimal technical barriers. Blockchain technology has evolved beyond its reputation as complex & inaccessible concept transforming into practical infrastructure for applications in global economy & people’s daily lives.“
Li Anmin’s Statements
Li Anmin commented: „We are committed to working alongside Conflux Network in developing & promoting practical communication solutions based on blockchain technologies.“
